The Mercedes AMG E63 was a very challenging project, that ended up being a great learning experience.
The entire project was made in Blender.
I started by Box Modeling the Low poly version of the car using Front and Side Refs of an AMG E63. From there I added MultiRes Modifiers to each of the major pieces of the model. With the MultiRes Modifier I was able to easily sculpt some of those areas that can be a little tricky when only Box Modelling, and allows users to easily bake a normal map in blender!
The UVs were quick and dirty because I knew I wanted to use a procedural Workflow for texturing. There was lots of trial and error while making the paint coat on the vehicle, but I ended up going with a speckled matte green that pops on the blueish background.
Lastly, I set up my Final Render by adjusting the lighting and adding an AO pass in the compositor!
I rendered out my Beauty Renders and my Turntable and that was that!
This project was a lot of fun as I was able to learn how to create a finished piece without leaving my main software. When I got into 3D I thought I would be making Characters but I had a lot of fun with this project as it ended up being very challenging and rewarding. I'm excited to have another chance to work on a Vehicle in the near future!
